Greener Grounds

LAWNS are green and uniform in color and texture. There are no brown areas due to broken sprinkler heads or disease. There are no weeds or foreign grasses, even in those lawns weakened by drastic water cut-backs.

SHRUBS are pruned according to their design function and their natural growth character. Accordingly, not all hedges are mechanically sheared to a smooth finish. Some will be hand clipped. Hedge rows are very uniform in height and in general appearance. All shrubs have a clear area at their base about six inches above soil or ground cover levels. This allows for healthy penetration of air and water and eliminates a potential trap for leaves and debris. Plants that have strap shaped leaves are never hedged, thus forming a brown mass among new leaves. Instead, undesirable leaves are individually removed at the base. Flowering shrubs are cared for to allow buds to open freely.

TREES like shrubs, are pruned according to their growth habits and intended contribution to the landscape. Cuts are clean and purposeful, done in a way to direct growth without encouraging undesirable sprouting or creating wounds that could invite disease.

FLOWER BEDS are meticulously cared for, staring with good sized, healthy plants and ample soil preparation. Extra attention is paid to potential fungus or insect invasion. Such flower beds develop quickly into dramatic sweeps of color.

The total landscape is one of completeness. All edges of ground covers and lawns are sharply finished. No trash or debris is found near any landscape areas.
